Winemaker Notes:

With a near perfect growing season, the 2012 Old Vine Zinfandel displays an elegant structure and classic varietal character that defines what great Zinfandel is all about. Moderate temperatures throughout the season allowed us to harvest perfectly ripened Zinfandel clusters from historic pre-Prohibition vines in the Dry Creek Valley. The aromatics are dense and dark with ripe boysenberry fruit and Zin’s intrinsic briary spiciness. On the palate, the wine is seamless and complex with succulent flavors of blackberry, blueberry and raspberry along with a complex spicy undertone. These low yielding vines preserve the vibrant acidity and balanced tannins in the grapes leading to a long and persistent finish.

Winemaker Notes:

Year in and year out, our estate Endeavour vineyard provides us with fruit that rivals the best vineyards anywhere in California. The combination of soil, sun and geography yields a wine with distinct aromatic elegance and classic Dry Creek Valley flavors. At first swirl, this wine presents some of the cooler vintage characteristics of 2010. Bright red cherry, dried spices, florals and black tea nuances fill the glass. On the palate, the wine is silky and smooth with layers of fruit. Plums, blackberry, cassis and juicy red cherry characters are framed by a solid tannin structure. Additional sips reveal underlying nuances of earth, minerals and green tea. This is certainly a wine with the structure and depth to age 15 years or more.

Winemaker Notes:

The 2011 Heritage Vines Zinfandel presents a wonderful profile of blueberry, red currants, and silky structure that speak to the cool 2011 vintage. An additional few minutes in the glass reveal underlying mineral nuances that make this wine really stand out. The moderate alcohol nature of this Zin provides smooth tannin and structure, making the palate very well balanced. The fruit is evident but not overpowering, with layers of black cherry, mixed berries, currants and all spice. This Zinfandel speaks to the old vine DNA of this wine, with earthy mixed berry characters and subtler hints of white and black pepper. The finish lingers on, creating a mouth-watering desire for another sip.
